A real estate agent is listing a New York City penthouse condo for $85 million, and he is also throwing in some unusual incentives to lure potential buyers – including a trip to the far reaches of space.
Earlier this month, the New York Post reported that Daniel Neiditch, the penthouse's owner and the president of River 2 River Realty Inc., put a 15,000-square-foot-duplex (which is actually comprised of 13 separate units) on the market.
According to the story, among the extras being offered with the $85 million unit at the Atelier on West 42nd Street and 12th Avenue are two Rolls-Royce Phantoms and a Lamborghini roadster; a 75-foot yacht; season tickets to Brooklyn Nets games; a butler and private chef for a year; and weekly dinners for two at chef Daniel Boulud's restaurant on East 65th Street, also for a year. But the real-eye opening enticement is a pair of seats worth $250,000 for a Virgin Galactic space trip (In a related story, USA Today reported that Virgin's space flight program is still active, even though its spacecraft has not yet transported paying customers).
Some brokers have also criticized that the listing “does not disclose that the units are not combined.” Neiditch denied any subterfuge, according to the story, and is working on plans for a conversion. The fact that the penthouse (which has been on the market for five years) is made up of separate units explains the $2 million construction credit.
In an interview with the Post, Neiditch said that he's providing an opportunity for a buyer to live a luxury lifestyle, adding that going to space was a dream of his. “Someone not from New York can [move here and] have a New Yorker’s lifestyle and point of view.” he said. “In a way, I’m offering my lifestyle. I’m offering a way for a foreigner to jump right in.”
According to the listing, the penthouse contains 10 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. The building includes such amenities as 24-hour concierge service, a sauna, a tennis court, and a billiards room.
