A penthouse at 565 Broome Street in SoHo has entered into contract at $40.5 million, the biggest luxury residential transaction in New York City for the week of July 30-August 5, according to Olshan Realty's most recent market report. In total, there were 16 contracts signed that week for co-op and condo properties worth $4 million and more.

Measuring 6,734 square feet, the penthouse duplex at 565 Broome contains four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and three terraces, including a 2,500-square-foot private roof terrace with a 20-foot heated pool and panoramic city views.

According to Olshan's report, the condo, described as the “pinnacle residence” of the building, also comes with an eat-in kitchen; two walls of floor-to-ceiling windows; a library; and a wet bar. Among the amenities included an attended lobby, a fitness room, and a garage.

“565 Broome SoHo provides the intimacy of a boutique SoHo building with the exceptional views and amenities of a full-service modern condominium,” says Olshan. “As the tallest residential property in SoHo, the building's design has been thoughtfully conceived to reflect the neighborhood's rich history while taking full advantage of its stunning views and light.”

Renowned architect Renzo Piano designed the building; his other projects include the Whitney Museum of Art and the New York Times building, reported Curbed.

In addition to the penthouse at 565 Broome, which was listed by Douglas Elliman, contracts for 15 other luxury residences were signed last week, according to Olshan's report: four co-ops and 11 condos.

A 3,008-square-foot, three-bedroom/three-bathroom condo at 150 Charles Street in the West Village came in as the second-biggest signed contract for that week, with a price of $15,450,000. Its highlights include Alabama white marble finishes, an eat-in kitchen, plenty of closet space, and a deep soaking tub. The building itself offers hotel concierge services, a fitness center, a steam room, and a play room for resident kids.

Occupying the third and fourth sales spots in Olshan's report respectively were a 4,127-square-foot, four-bedroom/four-and-a-half-bathroom condo at 1 West End Avenue on the Upper West Side with an asking price of $11,950,000, and a 2,726-square-foot, three-bedroom/three-and-a-half bathroom condo in Tribeca worth $9,650,000.
