That eclipsed the price of $15 million paid by art dealer Lio Malca for a DUMBO penthouse in 2017. Damon’s new 6,218-square-foot apartment occupies the 11th and 12th floors as well as the roof of the Standish building. Amenities at the Standish reportedly includes 24-hour doorman and concierge services, a roof ter- race, and a fitness studio. Development Report: Morningside Heights Seminary to Build Condo Building In order to pay for $125 million worth of repairs at its campus, a Morningside Heights seminary has teamed with developers to build a 42-story condo building on the semi- nary’s property. Crain’s New York Business reported that Union Theological Seminary is working with Lendlease and L+M Development Partners, who would purchase the air rights from the religious group and construct the Robert A.M. Stern-designed building. The developers will sell the condos, while the seminary will own the classrooms, faculty residences and offices space. Union Theological Seminary, which has been around for 182 years, previously announced a couple of years ago that it would undergo a massive rehabilitation of its property. About $5 million from the project’s funds would be earmarked for a community investment fund for local projects, Crain’s added. News Cuomo Suspends Full L-Train Shutdown The planned full shutdown of the L sub- way train for April – which prompted mild panic for commuters traveling between Brooklyn and Manhattan, as well as specu- lation on how it would impact real estate in Williamsburg and North Brooklyn—has apparently been halted. The Real Deal and multiple other news outlets reported that on January 3rd, Gov. Andrew Cuomo canceled the scheduled 15-month MTA rehabilita- tion project, opting for an alternative plan in which the renovation work on the Canarsie Tunnel would be performed on nights and weekends. Prior to Cuomo’s intervention, the plan would have meant a full closure of the tunnel, with added subway service on other lines and other forms of transportation – including buses and a ferry service – being provided to (hopefully) take up the slack. The MTA had previously announced repair work for the tunnel back in 2016 as a result of dam- age caused by Superstorm Sandy. n PULSE continued from page 4 Please submit Pulse items to David Chiu at david@cooperator.com
